About me

I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors — whether it’s guiding in the mountains, navigating river rapids, canyoning, or climbing. Anything that connects me with nature brings a sense of purpose and fulfilment. If I can offer that feeling to others, all the better!

I’m based in Eryri (Snowdonia) and often refer to it as “my back garden.” I completed both my Mountain Leader training and assessment here and have guided many events in the area, including the Welsh 3000s, Crib Goch, and Tryfan. I’d like to think I have a solid working knowledge of the region.

As much as I love Eryri, my experience extends far beyond it — from the Scottish Highlands and the Lake District to further afield in Bali and Morocco, to name a few.

Fun facts

Here’s a few things about me that you probably wouldn’t guess:

  • I used to drive tanks
  • I have played rugby for the army youth team competing in Australia
  • I was part of the military drums display during my basic training
  • I have run the National three peaks
  • There is a video of me partaking in a “dance” completion on YouTube… I will not give out any more info on this 😂

My background

My passion for the outdoors began at a young age in the Army Cadet Force, where I took part in kayaking, climbing, map and compass training, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and many other activities. These early experiences laid a strong foundation for my future in the British Army, where I continued to embrace every opportunity for outdoor training.

After leaving the Army, I set up a small construction company, which I now manage in the background alongside my work in the outdoor sector.

I currently hold:

  • the Mountain Leader qualification
  • International Raft Guide (Level 3 Trip Leader)
  • Outdoor First Aid certification
  • White Water Safety and Rescue training

What I love about mountain adventures

It might sound cliché, but the feeling I get when I’m in the mountains or guiding any outdoor activity is something I never want to lose. As a guide, watching people from all walks of life experience these adventures for the first time is a powerful reminder of how transformative the outdoors can be. It’s great for fitness, mental health, and overall well-being — and being part of someone’s journey as they discover that for themselves is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

My philosophy

If you choose to book with me, you’ll quickly see that my main goal is to help you get the most out of your day. Safety is always the top priority — but I also love helping people challenge themselves, learn new skills, and overcome personal limitations. Creating a safe, supportive, and friendly environment is at the heart of everything I do.
